The good-old home update

Online from home. That's the way it should be.

After falling back to sleep once Casey left for work, I was startled when my alarm went off at 10:30. That's a good thing, since I got some needed sleep and didn't struggle to fall back into slumber. I snoozed twice, but then remembered that I had a mission today: To figure out why Casey couldn't get the DSL to work last night. I managed to do so, and here I am. Though I'm still stumbling over some of the Mac features, since I'm strictly a PC guy.

Just before I got on the computer, though, Lori called to see what bills were here and how things were going. She's been up in Connecticut at her boyfriend's to allow us some space to get things organized here. Apparently, though, Betty e-mailed her complaining about how cramped the apartment is now, which is ridiculous, and Lori and I both agreed that Betty is bitching for bitching's sake. The living room is no more cramped than it was before the weekend, with the exception of Casey's loveseat/couch, which is a nice and needed addition to the room. The rest of the stuff against the wall is no more intrusive than her two hideous plastic wardrobes, one of which is in the short part of the hallway leading to my room. Of course, Betty again mentioned this to Lori and not to me -- or Casey for that matter -- so I am paying no attention to it until she grows up and says something.

(Don't worry about it, Case, it's no big deal.)

The only problem with our DSL setup is that it's in the living room, where there's no air conditioning, and on top of that, the computer is resting on my lap, and emitting heat. But at least it's not as hot and humid as it has been. It's slightly -- emphasis on "slightly" -- cooler.

OK, I'm off then. I've got mail to check, a checkbook to "balance" and errands to run before work. But one of these days, Casey's CD burner is going to suck up an entire 10 hours of my day, from the moment she leaves for work until she returns.
