Evaluation time (c'mon!)

So after three years at the paper, I'm having my first performance review on Thursday.

Short-range goals? (One year). Hmmm, well, I'm not going to tell you my short-range goal is to get a job with a company in New York, so I'll tell you that it's to become a full-time writer again.

Long-term goals? (Three-to-five years?) Again, not here, but just to humor you: Become an established beat writer or columnist/enterprise reporter.

What strengths do I have to achieve these goals? I'm one of the best damn writers here, AND I know the game from the editing side of the desk, so you can bet I won't be filing 10 inches too long five minutes before deadline and expecting you to get that version in for first edition.

How can the paper help me achieve these goals? GET ME OFF THE DAMN DESK! I've been complaining about it for two years now. I hate it here. Make it happen, or I'm gone.
