Kathy, Lee and David leave about 10:30 a.m. to go to the Reds game and the rest of us rise slowly thereafter. Bryan, Mia and I hit Cracker Barrel for breakfast at 11:30, so Bryan and I dont hit the road until nearly 1 p.m. Noon wouldve been nicer, considering our plans to reach Jaimes place west of Philadelphia, about a nine-hour drive. With good music, we cruise through Ohio as the skies darken. We enter a county welcomed by Entering Licking County signs and continue into a steadying rain. While eating lunch in a Subway attached to a gas station in Pleasant Grove, Pa., the skies open and rain pours. Our drive to Philly will be wet the rest of the day, slowing our pace a bit. On Bryans second stint behind the wheel, the rains stopped but darkness begins to fall, so he shoots us east at 85 mph until I take over east of Harrisburg for the final push. Filling up the gas tank at a rest stop east of Harrisburg, I look west at the sun setting through the breaking clouds. The end of a day of rain is always a good time for great sunsets. This one was no different. The sun broke through the low clouds, dousing them in bright shades of orange and red, making for a spectacular view, even if the foreground was a Pa. Turnpike rest area. We reach Jaimes at 10:30 and sit and talk for a little while, looking at my Nantucket pictures and watching the E! True Hollywood Story (or some special) on the Baywatch series before bed. Bryan and I turn in at midnight, planning to be on the road at 9 a.m.
