The last time ...

As usual, when it comes to pop culture, Casey was right: It's Ann-Margret, not Ann-Margaret. I was just going on the standard spelling of "Margaret" that I know.

As I passed Exit 13 on the NJ Turnpike today (Route I-278) I thought about traveling America, taking exits, cruising the interstates. My mind wandered the path of I-78 and the adventures of unknown roads.

So I thought about the last time I went on a long car trip, something longer than two hours. It would've been mid-September, when I went to see Casey in Johnstown. Then I thought about the last time I flew, and that was coming back from visiting Casey in Chicago at the end of August. So it got me thinking to the last time I did a lot of things. So here they are.

The last time I left New Jersey: Dec. 31, to go to Jaime's in Bryn Mawr, Pa., for New Year's.

The last time I went to a movie: Jan. 3, The Royal Tenenbaums.

The last time I rented a movie: Dec. 30, Legally Blonde.

The last time I got drunk: Jan. 5, Uncle Chic's surprise party.

The last time I ate a meal out: Dec. 27, some Mexican place in the Village (Casey?).

The last time I went to a live sporting event: Red Bank at Long Branch high school football, Thanksgiving.

The last time I went to a live professional sporting event: Oct. 2, Toronto Blue Jays at Baltimore Orioles.

The last time I wink, wink, nudge, nudge, know what I mean-ed: New Year's Day.

The last time I wrote a real live, on-paper letter: sometime in December, to Kregg and Julie in South Bend.

The last time I was in South Bend: May 21, the day after Jess' graduation.

The last time I was west of the Mississippi: Jan. 2, 2001, leaving Phoenix.

The last time I worked out: street hockey with the guys (and Allison), Dec. 17.

The last time I worked out other than two hours of hockey: July 27.

The last book I read: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

The last magazine I read: Outdoor Photographer.

The last TV show I watched: The 4:30 Channel 2 news. Before that, the syndicated version of The Weakest Link with the moody alterna-dressed guy in black.

The last time I saw a friend from Notre Dame (not counting Lori, whom I live with, but she graduated from Saint Mary's, so technically isn't from ND, though that's how we met): Dec. 8, Bryan and Mia at my apartment.

The last time I played on a playground: That mid-September visit to Johnstown.

I think that does it for what I can come up with off the top of my head now. I've got some work to do, so maybe I should do that rather than reminiscing haphazardly.
