A soft summer day

There isn't necessarily anything outstanding to write about today, but there are a few isolated things upon which I can elaborate.

I bought two Nanci Griffith CDs today, one the one Johnny has -- Her voice is unique and has a calm, soothing, comforting quality to it, the kind of sounds you'd like to hear as you drift off to sleep or settle in for a quiet evening. On top of that, the songs -- hers and those she covers -- are about America past and present, this country that has so much to it, is so complex and intriguing -- there's always something new to learn, or a new way of looking at it, or parts of it.

While it poured in Boston and places north of here today, Pembroke had sun and Paul, Bryan, Mia and I went swimming next door in warm June sunshine. No better way to spend a summer day.
