Oh, that Moom

SOUND of a phone ringing. It is 6:34 a.m. Click. A WOMAN answers.

WOMAN:
Hello?

DAN:
Hello, Moom, it's Dan.

MOOM:
Oh, hello Dan. Did you get a call?

DAN:
Yes, Casey left a message about an hour ago and said it's sunny and she sounded happy and that they're already acting alike.

MOON:
Oh, good. You made my day. And I hope you have a wonderful weekend and you get to watch sports and eat nachos.

DAN:
Oh, I watched sports for five hours last night.

MOOM:
Well, I know she'd let you do it anyway. But thanks for calling so early.

So that's the short conversation I had this morning after getting Casey's call from Scotland. I've been doing the script thing a lot lately, haven't I? Eh, it works for the master.

I woke up on my own at 6:30, as I figured I would. Not necessarily at 6:30, but before the alarm went off at 8. And since I knew Moom would want to know Casey was safely across the pond, I figured I'd turn on my phone, get the message, and let her know. I even contemplated getting up then, since I wasn't sure I'd get back to sleep, but sure enough, I did.

The TV was on CBS with nothing but the NCAA Tournament on for five hours last night, but I didn't spend the entire five hours with my eyes glued to the screen. I studied more for my fantasy baseball drafts and talked for half an hour with Lauren because I called to see if they had the Notre Dame game on or if they were getting shafted like I was. Once Wisconsin had its game vs. Weber State in hand, CBS apparently thought that everyone in New York wanted to see Duke vs. Colorado State and everyone in LA wanted to see Kansas vs. Utah State. Both turned into good games at the end, but I bet there are more Irish fans and alumni in New York than Blue Devils fans. So I continued with my baseball research until they switched to Indianapolis for the final two minutes of ND's one-point win over the Panthers. Woo! But yeah, Heather wasn't home yet so I talked with Lauren for the first time and dammit if they're not partly the same person. With the exception of Lauren's slightly deeper voice, at times she even sounded like Heather.

OK, well, breakfast calls.
