A little more about me

I want to write something. I want to write something profound, something in depth, something poignant. I want to write a story or an essay or a poem.

But I've been writing all day - baseball stories for the paper, for our extensive look at the new team coming to New Jersey.

But instead, there's this - so you know more about me. It's time.

1. The name you wish your parents had given you: I used to think I wanted to be Dave, but that's because people sometimes accidentally called me that. If I had to pick one, I guess it would be Chris, but I haven't thought that in a decade or so.
2. Favorite type of pet: I do like my cat, but I would like a dog, but only if it's (See #3)
3. Favorite breed of #2: Black lab
4. Favorite part(s) of your body: My right hand (What?? That's the one I write with. And I used to draw.)
5. Current job title and company: Sports writer/copy editor, a Gannett newspaper
6. Dream vacation spot: Alaska
7. Food dish you're best at preparing: of the pasta variety
8. Object of your first crush (his/her name and your age at crush): I think it might have been Pam Gormley in first grade. Or was it Sherry someone in kindgergarten?
9.First major purchase after getting first good-paying job: It should read "First major purchase after getting first job:" and that would be my new camera, which was then followed months later by the car.
10. Premarital sex - OK or wait: When!? Where!?
11. Worst movie you actually sat through: Thelma and Louise
12. Worst movie you walked out of: Hasn't happened yet. I paid money, I'm not leaving.
13. How many people you know or knew that were/are in any branch of the military: Well, if you count all the older people I know, I have no idea. Peers? I think three.
14. The TV show(s) that you hate to miss: Ed, West Wing, Sopranos
15. The TV show(s) you hate: Daytime soaps
16. First play you saw: Our Town (First play on Broadway: Inherit the Wind)
16a. (I diferentiated these two) First musical you saw: Miss Saigon
17. Last CD you bought: Pink Moon, Nick Drake (it has the song from the Volkswagon Cabrio commercial where the people drive to the party with the sunroof open, looking up at the stars, and then they get to the house but decide to keep driving. I like.)
18. DVD Player or VCR: Have a VCR, would use a DVD Player
19. Last movie you saw: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (theater), As Good As It Gets (TNT), Almost Famous (rental)
20. Mom's middle name: Louise
21. Dad's middle name: Frank
22. Age at first kiss: First or second grade. First hook-up was 15. Maybe 16.
23. Biggest turn-on: A bright smile
24. Biggest turn-off: Cigarettes
25. Something you hated in high school and really like now: I've only seen one of these surveys, but I know everyone will at least consider alcohol for this one. So in addition to that, I will say homework.
26. Thing(s) you collect: Baseball caps (minor league mostly), CDs, movies, photographs
27. Seen a porno flick?: Yes
28. Last song you heard: Unfortunately, it's the Michigan fight song, since I was watching a basketball game. But before that, it was "Babylon" by David Gray.
29. Last time you exercised and what you did: Last night -- I ran from the car into the bar in the rain
30. Your favorite place you've actually visited: Arizona
31. The farthest place where you know someone who lives there: Australia, if my mom's cousin is there right now (she goes back and forth); if not, it's Hawaii -- Oahu.
32. City and state you were born in: Boring. Haven't moved: Little Silver, New Jersey
33. Favorite insect: Lightning bugs/fireflies. They mean summer
34. Least favorite insect: Ants (too many needless calls when I was an exterminator)
35. Next planned big purchase: A brand spankin-new desktop computer and scanner to start having more fun with all my photos. Let's hear it for tax refunds!
