Speaking to some French girl who says she knows me well

It is almost 5:15 in the evening and I'm listening to Dylan's "Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again" on iTunes at work while I check the facts on two stories. But the noteworthy thing is that I'm leaving tonight ... at 6 p.m. No appointment, no committment, no special reason. Only because the one story I checked earlier today an interview with George Clooney has already closed and I have no more responsibilities with it. The other two I'm working on are due tomorrow and Thursday, so there's no rush.

It will be an even eight-hour day for me, perhaps even a seven-and-a-half-hour day (Casey and I went to Target two hours ago and were out for roughly half an hour, so that was my lunch break; I ate at my desk beforehand). I didn't get here until 10 this morning because I went to Pathmark and bought some things, then got back out to my car and realized I hadn't bought anything for lunch today, so I went back inside to get that. And then I had to stop back at home to leave the cheese and juice I bought in the fridge.

When we get home tonight and I'll be home early enough to park in front of Casey for only like the second time since we moved there we can take our time making dinner, we can hang photos or shelves, we can fix the freezer door, which, I suspect, isn't attached securely at the hinges, causing it to not seal properly when it closes. We have condensation on the roof of the freezer, meaning that somehow the seal isn't secure. I'll have time to watch the recent episodes of The Simpsons, King Of The Hill and ER after Gilmore Girls AND watch some basketball on ESPN or play some old-school Tecmo Super Bowl on Nintendo.

It's like a holiday!

I love iTunes. I have it on shuffle, and now it's playing Bruce's "Blinded By The Light."

Speaking of Bruce, I saw the video for "Lonesome Day" on MTV this morning, and it looks like the entire thing was shot on the Asbury Park boardwalk, the beach, and around the city. It also seems like when the "Lonesome Day" single is released next week, it will include the video on DVD, as well as some other live recordings, including that of "The Rising" from the MTV VMAs.

Speaking of things filmed in New Jersey, there was a scene in Sunday's Sopranos in which Furio is riding in a cab after returning from Italy. In a montage similar to the opening credits, they show a series of roadside businesses (including Heaven Is A Spa) and it's pretty clear, if you know the area, they're on Route 46 in Bergen County. The day is sunny and it looks rather warm, and it was the day I was returning from an interview in Hackensack and saw a film crew on the road in which a truck was pulling a cab. So in that scene, I was a few cars back of the film crew. I tried to catch up, but the traffic was too congested, what with the police escort preventing cars from passing.

Yeah, that was cool.

I suppose I'll do a little work for the last half hour I'm here.
