Ice on the Hudson

You'd think the clear blue sky would make it warmer.

But no. The sun shines down but it's as cols as it's been for two weeks. The clouds -- when there are some -- keep the warmth in. But today, with a sapphire sky, the air is as crisp and cold as ever. The Hudson River's even affected -- chunks of ice float upstream and cluster along the New York shoreline. It's a scene that's unusual to many here (even commuter ferry service between New York and New Jersey had to cease) but likely a reminder of long ago winters in the Big Apple.
