Agree to disagree

In the interest of maintaining those particular relationships, there are two types of friends with whom I cannot discuss two subjects until at least November: Republicans and Yankee fans, regarding politics and Alex Rodriguez. I seem to remember hearing once that either Jimmy Stewart or Henry Fonda said that the two could never discuss politics because they were both passionate in their beliefs and they did not want to jeopardize their friendship. They stuck to that credo, and remained friends the rest of their lives. There are certainly instances where I can understand their thinking. So considering historical precedent, particularly politically, I doubt there are a dozen people in Massachusetts with whom my first sentence would apply.

And just when I was getting excited about baseball season starting up.
